Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced and hands-on Cloud Architect to lead large-scale infrastructure modernization initiatives on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This is a leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, strong architectural thinking, and the ability to drive end-to-end execution—from strategy and design through migration and optimization.
You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and stakeholders to modernize legacy environments, architect cloud-native systems, and deliver secure, scalable, and automated solutions.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Ownership
Lead infrastructure modernization programs from inception to completion, including architecture design, execution, migration strategy, and project delivery. Provide technical leadership and mentor engineering teams.
Cloud Architecture & Design
Design and implement scalable GCP landing zones including IAM, networking (VPC design), and billing structures. Architect secure hybrid and multi-cloud environments with a focus on resilience and high availability.
Migration Strategy & Execution
Drive complex migration programs involving virtual machines, databases, and Kubernetes workloads from on-premise, AWS, or Azure environments to GCP. Lead planning, cutover, and stabilization activities.
Automation & DevOps
Champion an automation-first approach using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Design and implement CI/CD and GitOps pipelines to ensure consistent, repeatable, and scalable deployments.
Cloud-Native & Modernization
Re-platform and modernize legacy applications using containers (GKE), serverless technologies, and managed services. Work with modern databases and messaging systems to build highly scalable solutions.
Networking & Security
Design secure cloud networks with hybrid connectivity. Implement security best practices across IAM, firewalls, and data protection. Ensure compliance and perform security assessments.
Observability & Monitoring
Build robust monitoring and observability frameworks using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Dynatrace, or Datadog, along with native cloud monitoring solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 10–14 years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud, or software engineering
- Strong hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) architecture and services
- Proven experience leading large-scale migration and modernization programs
- Advanced proficiency in Terraform (mandatory) and Infrastructure as Code principles
- Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Cloud Build
- Deep knowledge of containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes – GKE preferred)
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, hybrid cloud environments, and security architectures
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and messaging systems
- Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and observability platforms
Preferred
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure environments
- Knowledge of legacy infrastructure including VMware, Hyper-V, Windows/Linux, and Active Directory
- GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification
